LIVE: Ladakh could soon receive special provisions under Article 371 of the Constitution, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has said.Speaking at the Silver Jubilee Founder’s Day celebration of Druk Padma Karpo School in Leh, Rijiju said the Centre is working on extending special provisions to Ladakh as an “exceptional case.” He said the move is being pursued under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that the Ministry of Home Affairs is working towards making the provisions a reality.Rijiju also said Ladakh is “very close to the heart” of PM Modi and highlighted the region’s development over the past decade, including improvements in road connectivity and the creation of new districts.The announcement comes amid long-standing demands for stronger constitutional safeguards for Ladakh’s land, culture, identity and local interests following its creation as a Union Territory in 2019.The latest developments also include a significant judicial step: the Ladakh administration has confirmed that a High Court bench will sit in Ladakh, following the promulgation of a new regulation on August 27. n18oc_indiaNews18 Mobile App - https://onelink.to/desc-youtube
